Another Taking It to the Streets, our running profile series of the women we keep noticing — for their style, for their work, for the way they carry a beauty look without making a fuss of it. This time: Jelena Spajic.
What we keep coming back to in this series is how the most interesting beauty routines are also the most edited. Fewer products, used more deliberately. The women who look the best on a regular Tuesday almost never have the longest shelves. Below, the categories that come up again and again when we ask about everyday routines.
Skin first, makeup second
The order matters. A real skincare ritual — even a short one — does more for how a face looks than any new foundation. Dermalogica remains one of our easy recommendations; we walked through their MultiVitamin Power Serum in a dedicated post. Layer it under whatever moisturizer you already trust.
Hair: condition over style
The right shampoo and conditioner do most of the work. We’ve written about Rusk Being Sexy for shape and weight, and Kerastase Cristalliste for the long-hair shine factor. A real brush — Mason Pearson, covered here — is the difference between styled and stiff.
One color thing, well chosen
If you only put on one color product, make it a great lip. Clinique‘s Black Honey Almost Lipstick — see our long-running BFF post — is the universal answer when in doubt.
The takeaway
The women whose beauty routines we admire share a small habit: they don’t reach for new things very often. They’ve found what works and they keep using it. Worth borrowing.
