Gel Make-Up Remover – Does it Measure Up?

My time so far in Morocco has included three large wedding parties and two engagement dinners, so I guess you can say love is in the air.  For these events, we had to wear pretty heavy make-up (wedding pictures!) and a good make-up remover was at the top of my list.  I went with Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel.  I love the brand Clarins because they use botanical ingredients and they are usually super gentle on my skin.

Their Pure Melt Gel smells incredible! You apply it to dry skin and work up a lather to remove all the make-up.  It feels really heavy and oily at first, but as you massage it, it becomes more of a light foam.  After that, you rinse off with warm water.  It takes a few rinses to get it all off because the foam is quite thick.  If you just follow-up with moisturizer it feels heavy.  Instead, I suggest following up with a toner and then applying moisturizer.  Going over the face with a cotton pad and toner also helps remove any stray bits of make-up that get away.

I love this product to remove heavy make-up.  It is so much more effective and gentle that using a cotton pad with make-up remover.  It also hydrates and nourishes as it cleanses, which I think is important after a long night of dancing in full make-up.  I wouldn’t use this on a daily basis, or even to remove light make-up, but it’s a great, gentle alternative to cotton pads if you wear a lot of eye make-up.  After five nights (not all in a row!) of full make-up application and removal, I can happily say that my skin is feeling fantastic, even if I do need extra eye cream for the lack of sleep!

Do I love it or leave it?  I love it!

XO,

Ana
